Serbia's Streaming Preferences and Trends Compared to Europe
Our Q3 2024 analysis introduces Serbia as a new market, and when examining their engagement with TV, video, and film services, it's clear that YouTube, Netflix, and Iris GO dominate as the top three platforms. Globally, services like Amazon Prime, Disney+, YouTube, and Netflix rank among the most popular. However, Serbia's platform preferences reveal notable differences compared to the rest of Europe.
Amazon Prime and Disney+ are significantly less popular in Serbia than in other European countries. Serbian audiences are far less likely to use these platforms, which enjoy greater popularity across the continent. Netflix, while more widely used in Serbia than Disney+ or Amazon Prime, still lags in traction compared to the broader European trend. Conversely, YouTube stands out as a preferred platform, with Serbian users 27% more likely to engage with it than the average internet user in Europe.

Serbia's Strong Preference for TV Sets in Streaming Habits
Our latest findings reveal that Serbians have a distinct preference for watching on-demand TV and streaming services on a TV set, a behaviour that stands out more prominently when compared to the rest of Europe. While Serbians do engage with laptops/desktops and phones/tablets for streaming, these devices tend to be slightly more popular among audiences in other European markets. This indicates that while alternative devices are used in Serbia, they do not rival the dominance of the traditional TV set as the primary streaming option.
On the other hand, streaming devices, smart sticks, and gaming consoles are the least favoured choices for accessing on-demand TV and streaming content. This trend is not unique to Serbia but is consistent across all European markets, further emphasising the regional preference for more traditional or versatile devices. These insights provide valuable context into the viewing habits of Serbian audiences, highlighting both their alignment with and divergence from broader European trends.
