Viewing your crosstabs
Changing the way you view your crosstab can help you get to important insights faster. Start by selecting “View options” at the top right of your screen. A dropdown menu of viewing options appears.
The rest of this article explains these options and how to use them.
Row metrics and column metrics
Choose the Row metrics option to show the metrics as individual rows.
In contrast, choose Column metrics to show the metrics as individual columns.
Apply heatmap
This option is GWI’s most popular view. It works in a similar way to conditional formatting, enabling you to find the more extreme numbers immediately. The higher the number, the darker the shade of green. Similarly, the lower the number, the darker the shade of red. All metrics are applied on a relative scale base, meaning the colours adapt to your range of numbers to provide a clear, colourful view.
You can apply a heatmap to three different metrics: %column, %row and index. For %column and %row, the colour grading is based on the middle value. For index, the colour grading is based on the 100 value and the highest/lowest index scores, with scores between 99.1 and 100.9 coming up as a neutral grey.
Swapping rows & columns
This option does exactly what it says on the tin: selecting this swaps your rows and columns.
Metrics
The Metrics option lets you hide/show individual metrics. Just untick those you don’t want to see.
Sorting your crosstabs
Use the “Sort by” option to change how you view your crosstab. You can sort your crosstab alphabetically, either A-Z or Z-A, for columns and/or rows.
